Danske Bank Schools’ Cup kicks off this weekend

The Danske Bank Schools’ Cup kicks off this Saturday with seven first round games scheduled across the Province.


Last season, Ross Kane became the 36th Methodist College captain to lead his team to success in the world’s second-oldest rugby competition.


The draw for the opening round is as follows (all games kick off at 11am unless otherwise stated):

Foyle College v Friends’ School Lisburn

Carrickfergus Grammar School v Portadown College

Royal School Dungannon v Omagh Academy

Banbridge Academy v Larne Grammar School

Lurgan College v Antrim Grammar School

Regent House v Wellington College

Grosvenor Grammar School v Cambridge House


The remaining schools will enter the competition in rounds 2 and 3. The second round draw will take place on Saturday immediately following the Tyrone derby between RS Dungannon and Omagh Academy.



Round 1 – Saturday 11th January
Round 2 – Saturday 25th January

Round 3 – Saturday 8th February

Quarter finals – Saturday 22nd February

Semi final 1 – Tuesday 4th March (Ravenhill, 2.30 pm)

Semi final 2 – Thursday 6th March (Ravenhill, 2.30 pm)

Final – Monday 17th March (Ravenhill, 3.00 pm)
